For those keeping tabs on me...I just wanted to let you know that I was finally offered a job this morning!! It's a great opportunity and one I was
hoping would come thru. It's a temp to perm position with a great commute and a salary comparable to what I was making at AT&T!!

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Connecticut Supreme Court in favor of same-sex couples in the state being legally entitled to marriage. "This historic ruling will provide additional security and protections to thousands of loving, committed same-sex couples and their children living in Connecticut," said Senate President Donald Williams Jr., D-Brooklyn. "The plaintiffs, advocates, and above all, the people of Connecticut, should celebrate this civil-rights victory. We look forward do implementing the Supreme Court's decision in a bipartisan manner." The issue was brought up through a lawsuit that challenges Connecticut's marriage law as being unconstitutional because it allegedly discriminates against same-sex couples. Eight same-sex couples sued in 2004. They said their constitutional rights to equal protection and due process were violated when they were denied marriage licenses. The plaintiffs said they wanted the court to rule that the state's marriage law discriminates against them because it applies only to heterosexual couples, therefore denying gay couples the financial, social and emotional benefits of marriage. "I disagree with today's State Supreme Court ruling, but as governor, I will uphold it," said Rell. "I continue to believe that marriage is the union of a man and a woman. "I also believe that the historic civil union law that I proudly signed in 2005 is equitable and just," she said. "We were the first state to enact such a law through legislative action and not a court mandate. "The Supreme Court has spoken," she said. "I do not believe their voice reflects the majority of the people of Connecticut. However, I am also firmly convinced that attempts to reverse this decision -- either legislatively or by amending the state Constitution -- will not meet with success. I will therefore abide by the ruling." Currently, Massachusetts and California are the only other states that allow same-sex couples to marry. |

thanks raes!! I DID hear about this and its great news! Hopefully they wont run into the same issues currently impacting the CA gay marriages...apparently,
they are trying to pass a bill that will disolve the law that allows same-sex marriages. i believe the campaign is Proposition 8. Hopefully they wont reverse
the "okay to marry gay" law!
